My heart is dancing like the northern lights. The sky painted in hope and so am I. ~Sabina Laura

I’m excited to share my latest painting — Cosmic Dancer, a piece inspired by the breathtaking Northern Lights.

A couple of years ago, my daughter woke me up and asked if I would take her to see a meteor shower. While we caught a few streaks of light across the sky, what truly stole the show were the Northern Lights shimmering above us.

That same summer, a dear friend posted a photo of the aurora, and I immediately saw a dancer in the lights. I asked if I could use her photo as a reference, and thankfully she said yes. This year, I finally brought that vision to life.

Many cultures have their own interpretations of the Aurora Borealis — from the spirits of loved ones to divine wisdom to symbols of transformation.

To me, something so beautiful can only be an expression of love. It was a magical moment shared between my daughter and me; one I’ll cherish forever.

When I showed Cosmic Dancer to my brother, he reminded me that the Northern Lights exist because Earth’s magnetic field is weakest at the poles and that those moments of weakness create extraordinary light.

What an inspiring metaphor! Even at our weakest, we still have beauty to share.

I’ve always been mesmerized by the sky — clouds, stars, rainbows, and the dancing auroras — each one a reminder that we’re part of something vast and deeply connected.

So, if you’re feeling tired, uncertain, or just need a reminder to look up occasionally, I hope Cosmic Dancer inspires you to see the beauty in your own soul.
